Battlefield: Bad Company

This isn’t going to be a full fledged review but more or less my opinion on the game.

Yes, at first I wasn’t impressed at all.

My major gripe was with the lack of variety in maps and multiplayer gameplay modes.

Perhaps I shouldn’t have been so quick to judge, I’ve logged about 12 hours on XBox Live and this little game as grown on me.

My problem was that I was comparing it to Call Of Duty 4. Bad Company is not all about the kills, it’s about squad based gameplay and performing as a team. Now COD4 has similar attributes but it’s most popular modes are the Team Death Match and Free For All.

This game IS multiplayer - meaning that you’ll probably spend 100% of your time online and not in the freshly revamped single player campaign. I tried it but I bought the game for XBox Live.

Once you leave the comparisons behind, it is a jump ahead for the Battlefield franchise. The environments are almost 100% percent destructible and the overall physics appear to be improved. Conquest modes will be added by EA in future updates, so right now you either attack or defend the gold crates. This concept took me as few round to “get”. So far, the map rotation appears to be limited to 3 or 4 maps (for me anyways) so let’s hope EA pushes out additional content for free.

In closing, if you’re a Battlefield fan, this game will please, if you’re new to genre, this is a good place to jump off and get into the fight.
