Yes, I’m still alive - just been real busy with work and some other projects. I did a mini-review of GRID, so be sure to check it out. It’s a great game but is just a tad frustrating at times.
I never really noticed the similarties between this game and DIRT - but they are designed by the same company and GRID runs on the engine as DIRT, so there you go.
I’m getting pretty frustrated with one of the sites I’ve been working on. The organization that tasked me to do the site is getting a great deal - in fact they’re wanting so much done it’s a little ridiculous. I’m almost to the point to where I’m considering refunding their money and advising them to go else where.
I know they’ll get quite a shock as far as prices are concerned, when they shop around with other designers.
I worked up something based on a content management system — in fact I was proud of it. Well, they hated it and said it wasn’t what they were looking for. They explained that they wanted an informational web site but didn’t want to have any content (yes, that was actually said). According to them, my mockup contained too much text for any visitor to read.
Last time I checked, a web site without content is just a blank page, right? Because I could be totally wrong.
I keep getting “pointed” to sites that were designed by major media companies, have totally custom content management systems, and probably had development lead times of 1-2 years. These guys wanted to go live by next week and I luckily was able to stretch it out til August.
Someone mentioned they would not have time to update a web site. Well, someone is going to have to as it’s not going to update itself.
I just don’t think they fully understand all the stuff that goes on in the background to make this web site stuff happen.
And they are in for a rude awakening.
